Cómo prevenir el DF(Dengue)y el CHIK(Fiebre Chikungunya)Enfermedades transmitidas por mosquitos

DF(Dengue Fever)and CHIK(Chikungunya Fever)are mosquito-borne diseases, mainly transmitted through the bite of Aedes aegypti mosquito (commonly known as “Aedes aegypti”). Clinical symptoms mainly include fever, arthralgia, arthritis, and skin rash. As the temperature rises and rainfall increases, mosquitoes enter the active breeding period and the risk of infection rises sharply.

 Preventive measures are as follows:

1、Clean up stagnant water in time to stop mosquitoes from breeding

Stagnant water is the main place for mosquitoes to breed. Cleaning up stagnant water in time can effectively reduce mosquito breeding. Please take active action:

  • Turn over the pots and cans: Timely clean up in front of the house, balconies, rooftops, gardens and other places of unused containers (such as pots, cans, tanks, barrels, scrap tires, foam boxes, etc.), to remove all standing water. Temporarily unused containers should be stored upside down.
  • Management of aquatic plants: Domesticated aquatic plants (such as fuguizhu, wannianqing, green, etc.) should be thoroughly changed every 3-5 days, and clean the plant roots and the inner wall of the container. Or switch to sand, gravel, soil and other substrates instead of water.
  • Dredging ditches: Ensure that indoor and outdoor drainage ditches are smooth and free of blockage, and remove silt, fallen leaves and stagnant water from the ditches. Check the roof counter beams, sewer outlets, air conditioning trays, refrigerator bottom water catch tray and other easy to accumulate water parts, keep dry.
  • Cover water storage: Must store water containers (such as fire tanks, storage tanks, etc.), be sure to seal the cover to prevent mosquitoes flying into the egg laying.
  • Clean up the garbage: Proper disposal of household garbage, especially disposable lunch boxes, plastic bags, beverage bottles, egg shells and other wastes that are easy to accumulate water, put into a garbage can with a lid, and clean up on a daily basis.
  • Fill up potholes: Fill up potholes in front of and behind the house, inside and outside the courtyard to prevent water from accumulating.

2Strengthen personal protection, reduce mosquito bites

  • Install good screen doors and windows when you are at home, use mosquito nets, and ensure that they are closed in time for daily access.
  • Outdoor activities, it is recommended to wear light-colored long-sleeved clothes and pants, in the exposed skin coated with mosquito repellent products or carry mosquito repellent equipment.
  • Try to avoid the peak hours of mosquito activity (7-9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.) to go to parks, bushes, woods, ponds and other mosquito intensive areas to reduce the chance of mosquito bites.
  • Children should choose to use anti-mosquito, mosquito repellent products, baby strollers installed anti-mosquito cover to reduce the risk of biting.

3Active self-monitoring, timely medical treatment

  • Before going out, please know in advance of the destination “two fever” epidemic situation, make good preparations to prevent mosquitoes.
  • After returning from areas where “two fevers” are prevalent, pay attention to your own health condition within 14 days. If you develop fever, joint pain/muscle pain, rash and other suspected symptoms, seek medical treatment in a timely manner and take the initiative to explain your travel history and exposure history.

4Gather social cooperation to build a healthy home

  • Staff at construction sites, tourist attractions, parks, elderly care institutions, stations and other places should check the environmental hygiene of the area and do a good job of cleaning up the public area for hygiene and mosquito control.
  • Communities should organize hygiene campaigns and strengthen environmental improvement.
  • Every family should also actively participate in environmental sanitation and work together to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
